And They’re Off!!!

We are a community based hockey organization catering to the recreational hockey players in both summer and winter. Not only do we cater to the adult portion of our community, we also run a YOUTH SUMMER PROGRAMME in conjunction with Brampton Youth Hockey Association.

On Sunday, September 27 we launched another winter season at South Fletcher’s Recreational Complex. We were able to accommodate all teams except those that registered on Mondays!! With very little participation for Monday evenings, we will be providing this night again next year…with a little incentive. We would like everyone’s feedback but we are looking at offering 60 minutes of hockey for the price of 45 minutes! Furthermore, we are looking at making Monday evenings an open division. So, throughout the course of the winter season, please let your convenors know or drop Jon an email at jon@arenapro.com.

In total, we have 108 men’s hockey teams with an additional 8 women’s teams and 6-old timers of 50 + and 8 teams of 40 +. As for the 35+ teams registered in the men’s divisions, who really knows how many “true” 35+ teams we have playing hockey throughout the season. Of the 108 teams registered for men’s, there are 24 new teams that have joined the Arena Pro hockey league. Outstanding!!

Prior to the season commencing, we held our annual team rep meeting on Tuesday, September 15th to introduce the teams to the executive group as well as to allow the convenors to introduce themselves as well. The turn out was an all time best with well over 52 team representatives present. We discussed a variety of topics such as:

  • Team reps responsibility
  • Payment schedules
  • Referees responsibility
  • Hockey insurance provided by Hockey Canada (www.hockeycanada.ca/insurance) THIS IS MANDATORY SO PLEASE GET YOUR INSURANCE MONEY COLLECTED AND SUBMITTED!! ($20/player)

The meeting was very informative for all parties involved and stressed the importance of everyone working together to make the league a better place to play.

Again, thank you to everyone who signed up this year. We look forward to working with you this season should you have any requests, concerns, or ideas to make the league a better place to play. One suggestion already proposed…and implemented was the recommendation that Jon be made the Social Convenor. We’re happy to announce the executive committee unanimously approved this request!!!

Stay tuned for future newsletters and updates on our website. We will be launching a tool bar that will allow team reps to submit “Rob’s Rants” whenever they have a concern or would like to voice an opinion of their team mates. (of course, subject to the necessary critique). This will be coming soon!!

In closing, anyone wishing to become a sponsor/advertising partner with Arena Pro, please contact Terry (terry.arenapro@gmail.com) to arrange for an informal quote. It’s inexpensive and allows you to expand your business clientele.
